After almost 20 years in San Diego, in 2006 Zak with his partner Wes moved back to the East Coast to Atlanta, when Wes' company promoted him to a new position there. Wes and Zak celebrated their 11th year together in December of 2006.

In April 2007, Zak returned to his first love the theatre joining Actor's Express Theatre (www.actors-express.com) as their new Managing Director. Actor's Express is Atlanta's premiere theatre for new works and has a long standing relationship with Atlanta's gay community, premiering many gay themed plays first in the South East and first in Atlanta.
